Schnauzerfest 2017

On the 14th October Schnauzerfest was back in Wellesley Woodlands for its second year.

Around 60 people joined Jenny and I for a walk through the woods of Rushmoor Bottom and a lot of people had more than one dog so we lost count of how many four-legged friends were out with us!  Schnauzerfest is a nationwide fundraising collection of walks with schnauzers held on the weekend of October 14th and 15th 2017.  Walks and social events will take place all over Britain which bring together Schnauzers and their humans and other canine companions.

We had more people and dogs this year, which was fantastic, and the charity made a massive amount of money – in 2016 they raised £260.00, this year £547.61.

We will see you all again next year.  Why don’t you come and join us?  All dogs are welcome.

About blackwatervalleycountryside

The Blackwater Valley is located on the borders of Hampshire, Surrey and Berkshire and runs for approximately 30km from the source near Aldershot, northwards to Swallowfield. At its confluence it joins the rivers Whitewater and Loddon. The Loddon eventually flows into the River Thames near Reading. Work in the Blackwater Valley is co-ordinated by the Blackwater Valley Countryside Partnership on behalf of the local authorities that border the Valley. Despite being surrounded by urban development the Valley provides an important green corridor for local residents As well as the Blackwater Valley Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a small part of the Basingstoke Canal SSSI, three nature reserves within the Valley catchment and many other areas have been recognised for their ecological importance. The local planning authorities covering the Valley have designated 31 other areas as ‘Wildlife Sites’.
