Last week colleagues from the Royal Bank of Scotland joined Andy, Bobbie and I to cut back fence lines at Hawley Meadows. This was one of four days on site in preparation for the Hawley Meadows Path Project, where over the summer key paths will be raised and surfaced to provide an all season link in the Blackwater Valley Path.
The volunteers got stuck into unearthing the hidden fence on the far side of the meadow from the car park. Over the years, overhanging branches from the fenced scrub area had begun encroaching on the meadow and pushing the path sideways.
Now the fence line is cut back there’s much more room for the path works and it also makes it much easier to maintain the fence.
Despite the heat, the volunteers worked amazingly well armed with saws and loppers, clearing a brilliant 250m. Thank you to everyone for all their hard work.
