Tuesday 8th April 14 volunteers joined Steven and I at Hawley Meadows along with our hardy chipper to help clear up the trees felled by the National Grid under the pylon lines. Steven had an interesting moment trying to get into Hawley Meadows as some places are still very boggy…
Whilst one team worked at the chipper with Steven, another set dragged brash from the meadow to them. Another team worked in the scrub area to start dismantling the mess of felled trees still tangled up, whilst another repaired the squashed fence before the cattle are moved up into the northern meadows. One more final team walked all of the river banks and Cove Brook banks to clear them of rubbish as the cattle have been spotted trying to eat it.
Many thanks to the volunteers as they worked really hard to process as much brash as they did, considering most of it was extremely tangled.
